Jane Williams has wealth management in her blood. Born into a financially-minded family, she had many role models. Jane began investing and following the markets in high school. As Sand Hill’s Co-Founder, she has built more than a career out of her passion. She has built a legacy.
Jane began her career in the early 1970’s as an economist and then had the opportunity she’d hoped for at Merrill Lynch. She knew early on that she would love the work and in 1982 turned her passion into a platform for empowerment when she co-founded Sand Hill Global Advisors, as a female pioneer in the investment industry. Helping people through life’s challenges and joys by listening, offering sound advice, and guiding them with strong investment management has been the essence of her work and has firmly established Sand Hill as a trusted advisor to clients for over 40 years.
A recognized leader in her field, Jane focused her energy on supporting those high standards across the fiduciary side of the financial services industry, as well as within Sand Hill where clients’ best interests and security are our first priorities. A frequent public speaker, Jane participated in industry panels and served as a qualified expert in several Bay Area counties testifying in court actions on financial topics such as prudent investment strategies and reasonable rates of return.
Jane was actively involved with the Investment Adviser Association, the organization that represents fiduciary advisors and investors to support the highest operating standards in the financial services industry. IAA actively works with legislators, regulators, and agencies developing and evolving the rules and regulations that govern the industry and protect the marketplace. Jane served in a variety of leadership positions of the Investment Advisers Association nearly ten years, chairing the Board of Governors, Government Affairs Committee and other committees, supporting policy makers and members of the financial industry.
Throughout her distinguished career, Jane worked with a variety of non-profit organizations. She served on the Board of Silicon Valley Community Foundation and its predecessor, the Peninsula Community Foundation, for seven years, chairing the Investment Committee for most of her tenure. She was also a Trustee of the University of California Santa Barbara Foundation, chairing the Investment and Finance Committees, and serving on the Executive Committee. Jane exemplifies the spirit of both entrepreneurship and philanthropy that we at Sand Hill take such pride in.
