Matthew has understood the importance of long-term investing since a young age, thanks to his grandparents—who worked hard to instill this value into him. His interest in the financial management industry, paired with an analytical mind, led him to study economics at the University of Southern California. During this time, he also completed two research-oriented internships focused on the valuation of different asset classes.
After completing his studies, Matthew got his start as an analyst on the sales desk at BlackRock where he worked with a wide variety of clients, many of which were RIAs. Working as a Portfolio Associate at Sand Hill allows Matthew to apply his love for deep research in an environment that’s both rewarding and demanding. He likes to keep his finger on the pulse of markets and appreciates the family-like culture at Sand Hill, where he’s always learning something new.
As a SoCal native, Matthew is happiest at the beach. He shares a passion for both watching and playing basketball with his dad, and bowling—something that can get very competitive with his family and friends. Matthew has given back to his community through volunteer work at Covenant House, an Oakland non-profit that’s focused on youth homelessness, and plans to stay active in this area.
